I hope I'm posting this in the right spot. If not, sorry.

I'm curious about buying ammo on line. I guess I'm a little leary of it as, am I going to get what I've ordered? Are places like Palmetto, OK Ammo, Ammunition To Go and others have a good rep?

What kind of experiences have others had....good or bad. And are there some places to stay away from, besides CTD?

Thanks in advance and happy shooting everyone.

I can't recall a bad experience buying ammo on-line. Use to be buying ammo and reloading components on line, in bulk, was a heck of a savings. Not so much anymore.

Some places require you send/fax proof of your age, which they keep on file for future orders.

I've always had good luck buying ammo from Natchez, Outdoor Marksman, Bud's Gun Shop and AIM Surplus.

One place I would absolutely advise against buying from is KY Imports.

In the past I've ordered from CTD, Sportsmans Guide, Wideners, Ammo To Go, Natchez, Midway, Outdoor Marksman and I've never had a bad experience.

I've not bought ammo OTHER THAN ONLINE in over four years now. I'm not about to pay what the local places want (when they have anything) plus the 8.5% sales tax for the privilege of driving around town. The UPS guy will bring it right to my door!

Have to give a big thumbs up to Palmetto State Armory. They ship very quickly and have some of the best prices I've found when they are running specials. That $12/1000 shipping and no salestax ain't too bad either.

Plus they are a forum sponsor...I try to send my business to them first.

As others have said, buying ammo online is absolutely safe and the way to go. I also have yet to have a bad experience from buying online. Wideners, Natchezss, and Ammotogo are where I shop most frequently. Wideners for rifle ammo, natchezss for target pistol ammo and ammotogo for pistol defense ammo (premium JHP). Rarely do I find other sites have better prices in those arenas for the respective companies.

This was literally dropped off by the big brown truck a few hours ago:

I don't know if buying ammo on-line is cheaper than Wal-Mart, but the ease of it is great. The only thing that has ever concerned me is not being able to have it delivered to the U.S. Post Office because it worries me that UPS just leaves it at my front door for anybody to grab. I've never had a problem...and I've ordered plenty of cases...but it has always worried me, especially now-a-days, with the economical downturn/theft upturn.

Whenever I go to Walmart for other stuff, I always run by the ammo case to see what they have. The answer EVERY SINGLE time I've been there: NOTHING! Well, they have some shotgun shells and rifle ammo (typical hunting stuff). But, not once have they had any handgun ammo (particularly 9-mm or .40-cal). Just an empty shelf.
