I have been reading about AR's and I am just about ready to buy in about a week. I need opinions.

Let's say you have 1100 dollars as a budget and I want to buy new. Must be .223. Not including optics, ammo and mags, what would you buy?

For $1100 you shouldn't have any problems getting into a BCM, DD, Colt, or possibly a Noveske.

    Congrats. I recommend a BCM.

I'd buy a Del-ton kit for $450 from classicarms.us then a stripped Surplus Arms key hole lower for $59.00, a Magpul mag for $15.00, a Magpul rear sight for $55.00 all from Aimsurplus.com that's a total: $579.00 an your transfer fee. Use the extra $500 for a quality optic.

I really wish people would type out names. DD? BCM?

01coltcolt, thanks for that site. Too bad they are out of all the lowers.

Just read this. I will look into that for sure. I have no transfer fee so this looks like a good idea.

    Yep:wavey:
I spent 6 months doing research and talking to people that carried them to protect themselves. I haven't regreted it one little bit.

Where do you see a DD or Noveske for anywhere near $1100? If you have sources, let me know as I'm in the market and would love to get one of those at that price.

You're right, looks like DDs are up to about $1200, it's been a while since I've priced ARs. Can get a Noveske upper for $785 and have $315 left over to build a perfectly fine lower.

He's out now but when he gets them in they go fast. 6920 under $1k, DD for $1200.

Palmetto State Armory uppers are very good quality. On par with the higher end stuff and include a lot of the higher end options but at a lower price.

I'm putting together a PSA mid-length upper and a Spikes lower and adding some typical extras like MOE stock and miad grip and probably a Troy buis and quad rail hand guard and will get out for about $800 which would leave me well under that budget unless I were to factor in an Eotech.
