Bushmaster xm 15

Picked up a bushmaster xm15 on closeout at walmart. I paid $399. I've wanted one of these rifles for awhile but could never justify one. The price made my mind up.

Unfortunately, my buddy got the last patrol man model with fixed sites. I got the lesser optic ready model. Can you suggest and good fixed site option I can consider for this gun. I'm sure there are a lot of rear site options but what about the front site.

What do you think about this particular gun...

Congrats on the new AR- and what a price!! There are lots of options for sights, the Magpul flip-up sights come to mind. As far as. Bushmasters go, I'm not a fan of anything that Freedom Group gets its hands on and much prefer the pre-2008 Bushmasters made in Windham, ME but for $399 you really can't go wrong.
Good catch! That is a great price!

My old Bushmaster is still going strong and it doesnt even have the staked gas key.
With a ORC the sights will be on a different plain if it has a sight mount on the gas block some do some dont would put a good red dot on it like aimpoint , or just scope it

You need to get it staked. It will come loose. Mine did.
I have a pre and post Freedom XM15...both 'patrolman' rifles. Both run 100%. That was a good price. I don't even want to say what I paid for mine, but they are the M4A3's. I've replaced the front posts with cut posts from other AR's and pinned them from the sides. Both have Walmart, Center Point 4X16-40 scopes mounted to the flattop. The carry handles are in my safe. I've tried a couple dot sights, but always end up go back to a scope, and the WM CP 4X16 is a great scope and is affordable.

I think that is very reasonable advice. I just keep putting it off but I will get that done.

After reading this, I went to buy one. Went to 2 stores and called a 3rd, none had any ARs. They don't show stock online, hopefully a store can check other stores for stock.
I got the only AR in the Shelbyville store a week or so ago. Tullahoma was out today.
