My buddy recently bought this scope and it is all he talks about. He said he can hit a pie pan out to a 1,000 yards with this setup on his AR.

Basically, it is a rangefinder scope that sets your holdover for you as I understand it. My buddy argues that he could outshoot a lot of military guys with this scope.

I am going on an elk hunt in December and he said if you get this scope you can't miss. I have my doubts lol. I saw one at Cabelas today and thought it was cool. I know you can miss with anything, but he swears it will turn an amateur shooter into an expert instantly. Any thoughts on this scope?

Just a general pic I found off the net. The scope is like a computer. It is powered by a 123 battery. The lighted dot is where you are at at 508 yards here. I would be back further on that elk in real life.
    Here is another pic:

Pretty neat. I wonder how much abuse it can take?

I wonder if this scope is simular to the one that won alot of the sniper swat competitions a few in a row a few years back. now it is illuminated.

This is the kind of scope I have been wanting enough low and spread out dots to use for distance drop and wind now if it has range finder and internal computer for programing wind that would be great.

    How much does it cost.????$$$$$$$$

It factors in windage. Trigger pull still has to be right.

They aren't cheap for sure. The one I looked through the 4 to 16 was good glass.

I asked the guy behind the counter if they were legal to hunt with. He said he thought they were for now, but believes that will change. I wonder if they are legal in any shooting competitions.

That was my biggest concern. Plus, anything electronic could screw up leaving you stranded. I would almost feel obliged to have a back-up rifle just in case it glitched.

So after the range finder gets the distance and you plug in the wind the correct dot lights up and you put lighted up dot on target and pull trigger. Done Deal.

Why would they be outlawed for hunting?

Scopes such as that one give shooters the tools to potentially shoot better. No piece of hardware turns an amateur into a great shot, that's skill which has to be developed.

Anyone think a world class set of golf clubs turns a duffer into a great golfer?? On the contrary, a great shooter or golfer can do well with sub par equipment. Don

Sort of like how crossbows were outlawed for non-handicapped hunters for a long time. In fact, they are still illegal in many states.

I think we are starting to see a shift in technology that is slowly eliminating human error in shooting. I can see how states might feel like it is not fair to game.

The game of golf has eliminated certain clubs on tour because of their advantage.

    Thanks. Don.

kind of like golf clubs in a gun scope discussion...

Glad you could reach into your mind and recognize the irony.
