OK let me start off by saying I have bought A LOT of guns in the last year, the wife isnt the hapliest about it either. I own an original colt 22 1911 but it's no 45! So I could probably swing 350-400 and get a RIA. It wouldn't be a carry gun. Just a house gun after it come back from the range a couple times. So are the RIA's worth it?? Or should I just buy some 9mm ammo and stretch the itch I got right now.

The Springfield Mil-Spec Defender Series can be had for about $450. Mine has been flawless. I've been carrying it with 230 gr HSTs.

I think you would be hard pressed to find a better option anywhere near that price.

I have a RIA government model. It is indeed worth it.

Beat me to it, my mil-spec Defender has been awesome too. RIA makes a decent budget 1911 also, but the Springfield is a step up IMO.

For around $300 you can find SDS imports 1911A1. All the reviews are good and mine is flawless as well. Accurate too.

I bought a RIA 1911A1, 5in bbl, about 5 years ago. It has been mostly a range gun. I also changed a few parts, using Colt parts, and they fit right in. Its got a Park finish, looks close to a WW2 model, and is a house gun. I do keep some 7 round mags loaded with 230 gr FMJ Ball, and keep an 8 rd with JHP in the gun. It shoots all no issues. My EDC is a Glock19 though. That Springer Mil Spec would also be a good choice. Good luck.

I have a RIA 1911 Ultra Tac II in 9mm and .45. I love both of them. I got the 9mm for $470 uses and the .45 new for $533. I know that's above the price range you listed but Ultra's are a significant upgrade from the base RIA's. If you're looking for a budget retro 1911 than the Tisas \ SDS has some really good reviews.

They seem to be decent guns. I have one in a cerakot and it is a pretty gun.

OK boys.. it's one of those fancy ones without the barrel nut...and I'm not finding any videos on how to take it apart. I can get the slide off but I'm lost on getting the rsa out

I have 3 RIA's since 2003. All flawless. But for the price they are asking now, for their semi custom gun (not Mil-spec), I'd opt for a MetroArms. The fit and finish on their guns are far more superior than the RIA's, IMO.

That would be a MUCH better choice than RIA.

Not to sidetrack too much, but, the OP has made his mind up so...
This looks like a pretty sweet deal, ima Colt guy, but am currently out of 1911’s.
I’m seriously considering calling up the LGS and putting one on layaway. Pretty much the same price as a blue-label Glock.
Is this about the best deal going right now on a 1911?

Not to hi-jack a thread, but since it has already been mentioned,if you were going to have only one 45acp,would you buy a G21 or cheap 1911? this is only to have, not carry just shoot once in awhile.
