Had an issue at the range today...

My friend was running through a few mazines worth of ammo, and sheared the rear rails off of his G22. He just got it not too long ago from Cabellas, as a factory refurb LE model. Ser# is DTMxxxUS. He said he had fired less then 500 rounds though it. I did a little searching and found some threads about one rail or another, but not with both rears gone. I think something in the action in the slide after the rails broke, caused it to dig into the slide in the center of the ejection port. I plan on calling Glock on Monday, and sending it back for him. He will be going back to school, and wont be able to do anything. I would like to have it waiting for him when he gets back. Any further advice on calling, and having just the frame replaced? Would they possibly re machine the slide? A few pics for reference. Thank you for your help, and advice.

Years ago...I had a Glock 23 and one of the rear rails busted off. Glock replaced for me....had the gun back in a couple weeks...

There was a "recall" on select .40 cal Glocks if I recall correctly....

    Good luck...

To add to this, since you asked about what to send them, send the whole gun. There may be slide damage that you can't see and after a failure like that I'd want the whole pistol examined by the manufacturer. Good luck. I know Glock's CS is among the best in the business.

I ageee with Larry -- send the entire gun back to Glock. They'll go completely through it and replace any part(s) that need it + do any upgrades necessary/required.

Have you ever heard of a pistol being totally replaced, because too many parts were damaged?

Local PD was experienced 10 or 11 similar failures on G21's, Glock replaced all the PD pistols with G21SF's.

Send the whole gun in if Glock says so.
Follow their directions, not the internet.

Duh! I should have looked at my 3 glocks. :faint: 1 was purchased as a used LE G22.. Thanks Butch

I have sent it in. I think they should have gotten it this past Tuesday. I will call them next week to verify, and make sure that the usual 6-8 week turn around applies...

    Thanx kids! :wavey:
