I can't get videos to run here from school -- sorry to ask a stupid question, but does the video explain what exactly was wrong with him? I remember them being pretty vague about his medical condition when they were reporting his leave of absence.

ya it explains everything. Basically had a hole in his stomache and they thought they were going to have to do surgery which would have ended his career. He was able to wait a while and it healed by itself.

It was diverticulitis...little pouch that forms on the wall of your intestine/colon that is prone to infection. I just dealt with it myself...luckily antibiotics seemed to have done the trick

No diverticulitus for me please. And from another thread no appendicitis for me as well. Makes me curious what did man do before modern medicine with these rather common ailments. If I was an Indian living in my tepee and got appendicitis would I just be out of luck and dead?

If you didn't die you wished you had, and most died. Diverticulitis is mostly due to a fiber poor diet and straining when taking a dump. :crying: :wow:

I have it and that is basically how the Doctor explained it. No more nuts in my diet, period! :steamed:

    Here is some info:

You may not have to avoid the nuts, at least according to my doctor. Like I said, I just dealt with this literally last week and my doctor said that at one time Doctors believed that nuts and seeds should be avoided, but research in the last 5 to 10 years hasn't been able to support that.

I've upped my fiber intake now that I'm on the mend. Lots of whole grains, as well as a benefiber/psyllium husk cocktail in the AM and PM. My plumbing is running smooth now:supergrin:

Thats good news that hes healthy, healthy enough to come back and fight is even better. It will be interesting to see if he comes back form this with the same intensity and desire to mash faces and win like he came into the UFC with.
