The pressure on him to do well "at home" is going to mess with him for at least the first round... He loves the adoration from the hometown fans, but he internalizes the pressure for sure.

Rory finished +8 on the day, 12 behind the leader in the clubhouse... Not a great start for the local boy.

Mickelson finished +5, 9 behind the current leader.

    Koepka is -2 after 9
    Tiger is even after 2

When I have an exceptionally bad day on the first seventeen holes, you can bet the farm I will do great on number eighteen. That's just the golf god's way of getting you to come back again. :fist:

I really want to see the shot tracker for Duval’s 7th hole.

Well I have never played golf but I like to watch the game sometimes based on the level of tournament(Ususlly Majors Only) and location, location, location. The "OPEN" is not at St. Andrews this year and I have never seen the course where they are playing, guess it's in Northern Ireland and that works for me.

Golf can be a lot of fun to watch, but in a casual way, kinda like baseball in the afternoon, like a Cubs Day Game at Wrigley Field. Speaking of which they have the day off, so after seeing this thread I switched to the Golf Channel for live coverage as I type this post. Just caught a few arial shots and it's very beautiful course right on the Ireland Coast. As far as my picks, Koepka, Fowler, Woods. FOUR..............OUCH!!!

Ok but the real question is did they have bagpipes playing in 1860 and also, what kind of SCOTCH was available for those attending to watch. Just wonderin'. Sayonara.

It will be referred to as the British Open unless and until the bold yin Scotland votes for independence from the UK.

Tiger is at plus 6. Weird the way his mind and body react from week to week. At almost 44 and with a re- built chassis it has to be expected.

Looks like Tiger and Rory won't make the cut and will have the weekend off. I don't feel so bad now about how I can play half way decent one day and then really make a mess of things the next.
Funny thing is my buddy and I tied with the finish scores from our 3 picks yesterday...both at a +5.

Yeah, I'm not surprised about Rory, but I am surprised that Tiger had such a bad day yesterday and played himself out of it.

    Lowry is killing it
    Koepka is still looking good
Mickelson will be going home early
Scott will be going home early
Duval needs to quit taking a spot from a real golfer

Now that Rory shot a 79 on day one, can I select another golfer? LOL

Well I'm rooting for Ireland and the USA. I just found out Lowry is from Ireland. However, then there's Koepka that will be doing more than lurking today, should move up some, or maybe I should say that Lowry might move down some.

I get the Golf Channel thru my Comcast "Sports Package" so I'm able to watch and I am right now. Course the Cubs will be playing San Diego today at Wrigley Field at 11:00am Pacific, so I'll be using my channel return button to switch back and forth. Hopefully the wind's blowing out at Wrigley today so that it will be "Bombs Away" for the Cubs. Finally, hot damn that Irish Coast and Course is BEAUTIFUL!!! "Top Of The Mornin' To Ya"

What I love about golf is that it's an individual's game. You against every other man on the course.
    None of this "team" bull-schidt!

I've always looked like it as though I'm just playing against the course and myself....and myself usually kicks my butt with pulled drives, topped fairway shots and bladed chips....

It looks to be an exciting weekend. A lot of fine golfers packed within 5 shots of the lead. .

Noticed while surfin' cable channels there was a competition of "Tennis Teams"...WTF? Sure there are doubles and I understand that but how the heck do you field a tennis team on the court, would it be like volleyball five on five? I rarely watch tennis but watched some of the Wimbleton women's games. Most certainly I won't be watching team tennis or team golf. Sayonara.
