Hey BOGs! I will be going to Manila this February and I was thinking of getting a couple of G19 mags together with a few other stuff since it is cheaper in Manila than it is here in our place. Is it okay to bring magazines on domestic flights? Has anyone tried it already? Checked in or hand carried? Considering that it is already within the gun ban period, does that affect my situation? TIA. :)

why not just let the store ship the magazines to your hometown instead? :)

ALWAYS check it in. NEVER HAND CARRY gun parts, accessories etc. If you really want to bring them, why don't you call your airline or airport security ahead of time to ask of specific rules on carrying gun parts/accessories? Better safe than sorry.

I don't think bringing empty mag/s is an issue. A magazine hardly constitutes a firearm, nor is it even legally defined as such. It's possible some LEO making pasikat or just plain ignorant might try to hassle you but any case he files would amount to a hill of beans. And I yet have to hear Comelec or PNP issue an exemption to transport a magazine. Best bet is to place the items in your check-in luggage and not in your hand-carry. Also have your FA card to justify why you are in possession of such items. Hope this helps.

I've done it twice and did not encounter any problems. I told the girl in the Xray machine up front that I had some magazines which I recently purchased in my check-in luggage. Just be ready to show your proof of purchase (receipt) and your FA license card in case they ask for it.

Aside from what Django mentioned, it's safe to inquire with the Comelec regarding the transport of magazines considering February is already Gunban period.

Not quite. If you encounter an x-ray operator who is really observant and identifies the magazines, you may be asked to produce proof of purchase and your firearms license card.

Thanks for the input guys! I'll try to contact our airport here and NAIA too just to make sure. Anyway, could anyone recommend a place to get G19 15rd. mags at a low price in the Makati area?

    hi isuzu,
i have some gun parts, mags, holster & mag-pouch set to be pick-up there in manila before taking my connecting flight to cebu this 31st of Dec.

kaso yung iba i assume na walang resibo like grips, ambi safety, holster & mag-pouch. yung mags & springs naman meron.

yung gun parts are just ambi-safety, grips, sear & main spring, mags & the holster & double mag-pouch set.

I have with me my FA Lic. Card, tsaka wala pa naman gun ban sa dec. 31st di ba? so do you think ok lang yung mga yun?

    Mikol,

At least yung ibang parts may resibo. I don't think holsters and mag pouches wouldn't be a problem.

    Merry Christmas!

I.M.E. One should pack them in your checked luggage and declare them.

No "part" of a firearm can pass into a terminal passenger waiting area here in the USA.  ;)
