Loaded my tumbler up with a few hundred 9mm & 357 mag brass this afternoon. Started to add a few drops of Lyman polish and had a brainstorm.

I took a heaping tablespoon of DuPont Polishing Compound, plopped it in a large pill bottle, added about 2 ounces of water and shook it vigorously.

Looks just like the Lyman stuff.
So, added a few teaspoons of the concoction to the corncob media, covered tightly and hit the switch.

An hour later I have some of the shiniest brass I've seen in a while. Gave it another hour and the stuff looks great.
Did I happen upon a good idea of are some of y'all using polishing compound already?

Geez Uncle Bob, that's quite a concoction you got there.

Definitely will have a go of it. Nothing shoots better or is more accurate than reloads made with shiny brass.

Also makes 'em easier to find in the pine needles and leaves on the ground...

I run walnut with a couple teaspoons of mineral oil, then corn with a couple teaspoons of NuFinish. The additives load the media up, so there is not dust, I run them open top. Turns the nastiest range brass into clean and shiny, slippery and ready to load without case lube.

I do almost the same as unclebob stated above, except for the BBs (I may give them a try though).
I use a 50/50 mix of walnut/corncob media though.

Brasso....
I've always heard that Brasso would weaken the brass because it contains ammonia, but don't know how much brasso would affect the brass and to what extent, but I don't use it since there are plenty of other cleaners without ammonia.

You can use the BB’s with any media or just about anything else you want to add to your tumbler.
I use 50/50 mixture of corn cob and walnut,
50/50 mixture of Nu-Finish car polish and mineral spirits.
Steel BB’s
Dryer sheet cut in 3 pieces.
When you need to replace your media, just use a magnet to remove the BB’s to add to your new media.

unclebob: how many steel bb's do you put in?

I have no idea. I had a jar full of BB’s that I used a long time ago to do moly coating of bullets. A rough guess I would say 1 to maybe to 1 ½ cups. Put to many and it bogs down the tumbler.
