I found a Brand New In Box S&W 5906 today at the local gunshow. Someone had bought it new several years ago and put it in the safe and never fired it. I got it today for $495. :wow: First and only Brand New 5906 I've ever seen. My uncle has one as well that I've shot before. Here is my question... I don't remember his having a magzine safety disconnect :dunno: Mine does. Is this standard on all 5906s? Can it be removed?

    EDIT: PICTURES TO FOLLOW

Congrats! They're excellent. They are a bargain at any price under $500, especially for a new one.

Magazine disconnect is standard. Why would you want to remove it?

    Great guns. I have two.

I personally don't see any advantage to the magazine disconnect. Really not that big of a deal though since this will be a range gun

I picked up this like new 3906 last year. It was shot, but not much.

Nice buy! You'll love it. I have the same with the Novak Sights and round trigger guard. Mine has a great DA/SA trigger.

There is something very cool about finding long discontinued handguns still unfired.

Nice find. I love the round trigger guard. That is one beautiful gun,
sharp lines, excellent fit and finish. I will give you your buying price for it if you are having second thoughts.
You did well my friend, now be on the lookout for a 6906 unfired. :wavey:
You are right about the 5906, there were so many police trade ins that a nice unfired speciment seems kinda weird!

Congratulations on a great find! I found a 6906 in a local shop today and snapped it up, can't wait to take it to the range tomorrow!
