So I went in to this gunshop yesterday to see what they had. BTW, every time I go in there I feel insulted by the prices. And I see two brand new Rock Island Armory 1911's. One is an officers model and the other is a 5". I talk to the owner and he says they won't last long. He also states that for the price of $600 you can't beat it.

So I come home and look around on the internet. $600 seems a little high to me. Would you guys ay $600 for a mil-spec RIA?

it's high, but your location also dictates pricing.

Is it a GI or a Tactical? The Tactical has the beavertail and the GI doesn't and has the tiny little sights. Centerfiresystems.com has the Tactical for $439 and the GI for just under $400. I have bought several RIA's from them and they are great to deal with. I don't care where you live $600 is flat out ridiculous for the RIA Tactical and a fall down laughing joke of a price for the GI.

Sorry. These are the correct prices. Even better than what I said earlier. I called them yesterday and they are going to have the 3.5" Tactical in for about $439 if I rember correctly what the guy on the phone told me. And they'll be in in 2-3 weeks.

Too high. Buy a Springer for around that price.

RIA makes a nice 1911 but not for that price.
If you do really want a RIA though a good price is more around 400$.

true, but he was at a shop.
and if he's in a smaller town the FFL might have crazy fee's for the transfer even if he order's it from the internet.

I think it would be worth it if, even with the crazy fees, ordering off the internet and having it shipped to the same FFL that carries the gun for a ridiculous price and picking it up from him. Just to piss him off for being silly with his prices.

I paid $560 for my Spartan when I bought it from a guy on GunBroker. Brand new. Before that, I was trying to decide if I *really* wanted to pay $650 for a Springfield Mil-Spec at the local shops (going rate around here). The shop I had it shipped to charges $25 for transfers on brands they don't stock, and $50 for transfers on brands they do stock. Even with the transfer, and shipping, and all the aggravation of having them send their FFL information, I STILL came out way ahead compared to buying that Mil-Spec.

And, if I can get a gun they stock shipped cheaper, even with their out-****ing-rageous $50 transfer fee, I'm gonna do it…just to rub their noses in their pricing structure.

That's a great idea I am going to order one now and have it shipped to him for pick up. BTW I live a populated area and there are three major gun shops within 5 miles of this guy. Thanks for the idea.

They're backordered now, but if you're not hurting to have it right now it's still a good deal. The guy you want it shipped to will have to send CenterFireSystems his FFL and shipping information. You may have to call him to see if he even handles transfers.

    It's doable, though.

Before I order online, I always give my favorite shop a chance to match the price OTD. The shipping should offset the sales tax. If he can't, I order it. Don't believe any shop has to set their prices that high. "It'll sell soon, so hurry" sounds like a used car salesman. $600 will get you a nice gently used Colt.

The shipping from Centerfiresystems.com is approx. $15. Add 3% if you use a credit/debit card and your FFL transfer fee(mine locally is $10-$25, depending on who I use), and you get a better deal than any RIA I've seen at a gun shop after you add tax. Right now they have the 5" Tactical for $420. Add 3%, shipping and my $10 FFL fee and I have one for basically $450 OTD. Find a better deal at a gun shop than that, for a NIB 5" RIA Tactical.
