I had a log splitter on my FB also that showed up in a "for sale group" the price was too low to be legit. The splitter was in some level of new condition etc etc just the way the ad looked and read.
    The ad looked fishy

Really? You're asking if a $99 log splitter is a scam?

    It's $99, find out :)

If it's nearby, it might be worth checking out, just for the heck of it. However, I've noticed on the 'facebook marketplace' ads, that things will pop up for $1 or free or even a realistic but extremely good price, and you read the ad and it's actually different.

The ad and everything is very well done. The vendor name is weird though. It is indeed too good to be true. I just thought perhaps it's a huge seller taking a loss on low-moving items. Just recently Amazon sold the their generation Echo Dot for one dollar with a $7 subscription to Amazon Music, and that was legit. (I bought one for the wife)

A couple of months ago I kept getting popup ads from some unknown outfit for a $59 cordless tool set.

At the time, the Milwaukee site was selling the set as a CPO for $999.00

Champion isn’t a very expensive brand but $99 is obviously a scam. A quick google search indicates that tractorsupply.com has that model for $1000. Better known brands in that power range start at about $1400.

Can’t be a scam on FB. They are the good guys and are on their best behavior since the politicians have promised to keep eyes on them.

Put it on a little used credit card and be prepared to dispute.

I wouldn’t....... it depends who you are giving your credit card / billing information.
If it’s Amazon that’s probably ok and the $99 is a 10:1 bet.

Having said that sometimes scammers post things mimicking Microsoft, Apple and Amazon just to get your information. This may be phishing.

What is unusual in my view is that really low prices are usually accompanied by a description in pigeon English, usually a native Asian speaker.

Yes, as the others say an unbelievable price. Don

I periodically check Craig’s List within a reasonable driving radius of my home for Vespa motor scooters. Likewise eBay.

Lately there had been an advantageously priced scooter listed from several locations. Same picture or one of the pictures from an eBay listing.

Wrote one which was supposedly less than an hour away, wanting to drive up with a trailer and cash to buy it. Never heard back. Didn’t expect to.
