From carry issues, thread about California residents open carrying in resteraunts:

"The Brady Campaign to prevent gun violence does not buy it. They do not see why anyone except police should be bearing arms in public, even if they have the right to."

If memory serves, Brady was the dude that took a bullet for Reagan and got paralyzed. The guy who shot the president had just bought the gun. Brady (and his wife I think) pushed hard for the 2 week waiting period, arguing that alone would have prevent Reagan's attack.

What I don't understand is, how in the heck did the "Brady Campaign" go from a 2 week background check, to the definitive picture of anit-gun "guns are evil" movement today??? Is Brady and his wife still the spearheaders? Or did somewhere along the way, did it begin to take a life of its own and spiral out of control?

The Brady Campaign is a good example of the slippery slope offense. If you strip rights little by little, one by one, when that last right is gone, the outcry will minimal, and will have been years in the making. The outcome will be the same as taking all the rights at once, but far less polarizing. Incrementalism. Great tactic.

Basically, they just want to "feel" important. They project their irrational fears toward an inanimate object.

As one poster pointed out, it's a slippery slope....

Look at what PETA and Greenpeace once were.. Bunny Huggers.

Now they are quickly becoming Eco Terrorists.

"Took" is not the work, caught is IIRC. (IE, he did not jump up and take it, or try to protect Regan, he was collateral damage) He was not secret service

And IIRC, he suffered brain damage as a result.

The same thing happened to MADD. What started as a good intention has morphed into another temperance league. HH
