I've been interested in ham radio since i was like 14, I read all the books I could back then but never had a radio (besides a CB) or took the test. Well today I bought a new study guide, and this stuff:

    LARSEN NMO-2/70B 144/440 COIL & W270B WHIP ANTENNA
    YAESU FT-7800R

I can't wait to get back into learning about radio and get the equipment so I can see what this is all about.

I have no idea what that radio can all do but it looked to be a decent radio on the Yaesu site so hopefully I'll enjoy it. If anyone knows anything about this particular radio or the 2m and 70cm bands in central Iowa I'd like to hear about it.

just make sure you get your call letters before you transmit on that radio. The FCC doesn't take lightly to it, and they impose hefty fines.

It's a nice rig, and you have a decent antenna there. When you get your license you'll have lots of fun with it!
