I'll still get a Delta Elite soon though. Maybe next week. Didn't realize my bonus was going to be what it was.

Oh, and no comments about "the lock" please. I've heard it all before. A MILLION TIMES. But if you must be a d-bag about the lock then by all means, type to your tiny heart's content. :tongueout:

Anyway, I'll be sending it to Bowen for a 10mm mag conversion. 200 grain XTP's at 1,620 fps.

I like how you can shoot .40 and 10 through it. If you do the conversion then it is a three caliber weapon. Although two don't pass the "Walmart test."

that 10mm mag will do good out of there,

but the 10mm and .40 dont really do that hot with the jump between the cylinder and barrel ..

takes a lot out of them

LOL, true. But that doesn't bother me. I'll either get my ammo from Reed's (10mm mag) or Double Tap.

And of course I can always load my own.

    Nice 610 HiVel!

I love moon clip guns. I'm a 625 guy but the 10mm is sweet.

    Wait, I'm confused.

The 610 shoots 10mm already, right? Also 40cal?

So what does a Bowen 10mm mag conversion do?

Well, that's a good question because now that I look at it. There is a decent amount of space in the cylinder. The 10mm mag looks like it "might" fit. I'm going to have to buy some and see. Regardless, I e-mailed Bowen last year and they said they would do it. Also said he would need some rounds to play with.

I guess I could ask Reed's too. They are the source for 10mm mag ammo. I think they'd know. On the other hand, I would not think a longstanding and respected gun smith would try to take advantage of someone's naivete. Until yesterday this was my first time handling a 610 so I didn't realize that the 10mm auto cartridge sits a bit back in the cylinder.

No where in his e-mail did he say "it might already be able to handle it".

pretty much his conversion is going to ream out the cylinders to a lower seating depth to match the 10mm brass,

and maybe polish the gun out, or bead blast and polish the small parts or something similar ..

Oh man. I never even realized there was a 10mm "Magnum". I always looked at 10mm being a magnum round already!

That must be a hellava round!

    Yeah, I caught that.

Just dropped a single 10mm cartridge and it stopped.

Can't remember what Bowen said he would do it for but I remember it was quite reasonable. Which leads me to believe it's simple reaming, polishing etc.

Reed's 200 grain XTP at 1,620 fps for 1,164 foot pounds. Numbers might be from a 6.5" Smith. Didn't specify. Still pretty good tho.

the basic process is the cylinder is cut out down to the depth to allow the 10mm magnum cartridge to drop in, then the cylinder is honed / polished out with a flex hone or similar,

then sense the gun is stainless, they might mar the back end of the cylinder so they will lightly bead blast or possibly real light polish the cylinder so it matches back up the gun,

or for a small fee, they will take and polish the entire gun so it matches perfectly,

or they can bead blast it so it has a nice matte finish everywhere, and if you want, polish the small parts to a shine, so there is contrast,

if you go with the bead blasted cylinder, know that with shooting it, you will get a "polished" line going across where the nipple on the bottom touches it ..

if given the options, i would go bead blasted gun with high polish smalls including the cylinder
