It's time for me to get a new pair, and I'm curious as to what y'all wear. I currently have a pair of Rocky's version of the Danner Acadia. I like them, but the leather has stretched enough that they're no longer serviceable. They've been resoled a couple times. I don't want a zipper boot, because the boot is useless if you blow the zipper out.

You said no zipper, but I love my 5.11 8 inch atac's. I'm really rough on my stuff, and have been wearing them as my daily shoe/boot for about 8 months now with no issues. and 5.11 has a great warranty.

A little background since this is my second post: Been working for a Fire-Rescue department for 4 years in December.

I wear Haix Special Fighter Xtremes. Since you said you prefer no zipper's though, I can't recommend them to you. But I will recommend Haix in general. They are very well made boots from Germany. They have boots that will fit any need you can think of (Wildland, Structural, USAR, EMS).

I've been using these. The sole is a tad softer so its more comfortable to be on your feet for longer times.

My only gripe is the sole does wear out quicker.

Even though they're zippered boots, I've been wearing the same pair of Converse 8" tac boots for almost 3 years now and they've been badly abused. But I'm just now getting to the point of needing to replace them.

I wound up getting a pair of the Haix GSG9S boots. They have a store in Lexington, KY. I went by there today and they had them marked as 2nd's. Only defect was a scuff on the leather. $139 I couldn't pass them up.

Alot of guys I work with wear Redbacks. I wear some slip on steel toe boots made by Red Wing. Have had them for a year and a half and the sole is still good and leather shines up nice. Here they are
