Most of us know the story, well maybe not the young members.
After the Joplin MO shootout, the cops counted 17 holes from their thompson submachine guns that failed to penetrate the villains cars.
They knew they were outgunned. Cyle carried BAR's stolen from an armory.
Texas Ranger Frank Hammer and his crew also got Browning automatic rifles the same as Clyde had in this photo. Shooting a 30.06 it was a huge step up from submachine guns.

They also got a couple of Remington Model 8's in .35 caliber. These were what Prentis Oakley and Frank Hamer carried for the fatal ambush.Hamer carrying a 20 round mag.
From the accounts of Deputy Hinton, paraphrasing:
We emptied the automatic rifles before the car got even with us, then we shot the shotguns, then we emptied our pistols.

In the car they found Clyde with his usual .45's and BAR's. Two of them.

In the end, the Remington model 8 proved it's worth. It easily penetrated the doors and showed the value of the police using weapons at least as powerful as the badguys. Lesson shouldn't be lost in history.
The powerful remington 8. They command a nice penny in fine condition now.
Their texas ranger and deputy sheriff owners were serious men sick of being outgunned by a couple of 20 year old punks.
Just thought I would share an old lesson from long ago, bring enough gun to the fight you expect to encounter.

If I had money, I would have a BAR and a SBS.

Wish I could go down to the gunshop and pick up a BAR. Or the hardware store and get a Thompson.
I think Dillinger and a few others used BARs too.

Here is a photo recently taken of the car that Bonnie and Clyde died in. It is now kept under plexiglass inside a museum:

They also have the shirt that Clyde was wearing when he died. Here it is:

The sawed off Remington 11 semi-auto shotguns ( basically Browning's famous Auto-5 design licensed to Remington to sell in the USA ) were the gang's favorite shotgun.

Here is a photo of the shotguns captured from them:

The bottom shotgun was Bonnie's favorite weapon, as it was a extremely sawed off Model 11 in 20 gauge. The last famous photo in the original post shows her holding it on a captured Sheriff.

Here is bigger version of that infamous photo that they staged in order to humiliate the captured LEO:

There's Bonnie and Clyde death pictures online as well if you use Google.

I was always fascinated with the story. I'm a history buff anyway.

I'am from Missouri my dad said they toured the death car around Missouri at all the county fairs. When he was a young man in the 30s.

For many years the Death Car was on display at a little joint called Pop's Oasis in Jean Nevada south of LV on I-15. It's gone now in another spot in LV.
As far as the captured guns from Bonnie and Clyde, a whole bunch of them and other items can be seen at the Texas Rangers Museum in Waco, TX.

    :headscratch: :dunno:

That's Clyde in the photo, not a captured officer.

Thanks Bac you beat me to it.

By the way the revolver in Clyde's waistband is a S&W Triple lock taken from a Springfield Mo. PD Motor Officer that the duo kidnapped. It is wearing stag grips.

A bit off track from talk about their guns, but I saw last night you can rent the joplin Mo. Apartment where the 'laws' trapped the gang. Two police officers were killed there.Pretty cool you can actually stay at a famous place like that. Most of the old places are long gone. Click on the link and read the history tab.

That is a great picture of the gun that sent the Barrow's to their grave. I heard the guns are pretty rare and the mags are even rarer.
I bet that gun would cost about 3k at least.
