(Columbia) April 30, 2006 - OK, all you boiled peanut lovers, it's time to unite. The mushy nut is well on its way to becoming the official state snack.

Gov. Sanford is traveling to Rock Hill Monday to sign a bill into law that would make the boiled peanut exclusive to South Carolina ... sort of.

Sanford will join Winthrop University graduate Tom Stanford, who proposed the idea, and Rep. Gary Simrill who signed the legislation.

its a pretty common munchie in hawaii too but i dont think its their official state snack, that'd be more like spam mitsubies if you can call that a snack.

I haven't made PB's lately. That's for later in the year when "green" peanuts are in season.

Next time I make them I'm going to try using sea salt vs. regular table salt. Sea salt, besides providing neccessary trace minerals, tastes better and you use a LOT less to impart the same saltiness.
