I was thinking about ordering some of the bitterroot valley 10mm 180 grain FMJ for my witness. Does anyone here have any experience with this ammo? I would really like to know what kind of expansion, for lack of a better term, the 180gr FMJ will produce. At less than $20 a box it is tempting.

FMJ doesnt usually really expand. Maybe some slight deformity, but not what I would call expansion by any stretch, unless you are shooting at stell plates or something.

Yup, FMJ is made for maximum penetration, not expansion. A lot of people prefer the FMJ for hicking in potentially dangerous (black bear, mountain lion, etc.) country.
