How the heck did this pass? Is there anything we can do to stop it? WTOP March 8, 2010 - 4:06pm WASHINGTON - Your car's registration information could end up in the hands of a private, foreign company, if Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell signs a bill into law. A bill passed by the Virginia's General Assembly would give the companies operating red light cameras access to information within the Department of Motor Vehicles. AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesman Lon Anderson was surprised when he learned of the measure. "Do we want the policing of Virginia motorists outsourced, perhaps to foreign countries?" Anderson says. "I think the answer in any poll you took of Virginians would be 'absolutely not.'" McDonnell has yet to sign the provision into law. Anderson says AAA will most likely ask its members to ask McDonnell to veto the bill.
