Updated Firefox and new version erased all bookmarks. Anyway to recover?
I just updated and it didn't happen to me... However something similar happened a few weeks ago with. Not sure what caused it. I got up in the morning and they were gone, came home and rebooted and they were back...
Good luck dude...
Do you still have the bookmark file? Look in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile
If not, can you do a system restore to earlier version, and export your bookmarks to a USB stick or something?
I lost all mine as well. I had save them all and now I have a separate "bookmark" icon on my desktop.
I was having a problem after I updated too. If I had multiple tabs up then my bookmarks seemed to have disappeared. I completely rebooted my system and so far have had no further problems. Are you still having troubles?
No problem with that but now everytime I go to check my Yahoo email Firefox crashes.
Another problem that drives my up the wall is when I type a search in google I now have to click on the search bar. I'm a "hunt a peck" typist and every day when I finish a search and hit return, I see I forgot to click on the search box and have to type the search all over again. I've about had it with FF. I read in PC mag. where there are equal if not better browsers.
I like Seamoneky. It's the updated and secure version of the old Mozilla.Opera is a good browser too.It allows right click and save pics on webpages that restrict saving the pics.
Thank You, Now I'm on a mission!
I just had the same problem. I was able to find the bookmark file though. Hopw do I restore this file so everything is how it used to be?
As long as its the "pre crash" bookmark file,
When Bookmarks Mgr opens...
Choose "From File" then next...
Navigate to your Bookmarks.html
I didn't have any problems with Firefox updating, but this is just another reason why I backup my bookmarks file every couple days, then 1x a week, when I backup my files to external hard drive, I back up my bookmarks file.
Not sure if this is what you mean, but you can also just type "google" followed by your search term, in the main address bar, then hit enter.
I use a plugin called Foxmarks. It backs up/synchronizes my bookmarks online automatically, and synchronizes my bookmarks with my laptop at the office.
I use AM-Deadlink to find dead bookmarks, works with IE, FF, Opera. Click "check bookmarks", then select "sort dead links at top".
Once you have your browser set up the way you like it, use this:
Also, if you surf the web on multiple machines, this is handy:
Thanks for the help Indy.
My Firefox update also crashed internet just a couple of times . Starting internet, and yahoo! is my home page, resulted in a the browser closing about 2 seconds after loading the page.
I did not lose my bookmarks.
I and my wife have experience problems with yahoo! mail intermittently this weekend. I think it's a yahoo! problem.
Sorry about the lack of clarity. In the past when I opened FF and its home page appeared, the flashing cursor was always in the google search box. Without looking at the screen I would automatically start typing in the target of my search. Well for some reason the flashing cursor quit appearing it the google box and I'd have to start typing over after placing the cursor myself. Guess I'm not to sharp because I'd do this7-8 times a day! Anyway, it fixed itself!
