I'm considering getting a part time job. Rather than fast food or the local grocery stores...what are some good places to look for part time jobs?

Is HD/Lowes a good place to work? Do some places give discounts to part time workers (Wal-Mart, Sam's, dept. stores, etc.)??

For those of you that work somewhere part time, where do you or have you worked?

    Thanks

Wal-Mart employees get a 10% discount on most items, 20% in the Vision Center, and even get 10% off all food items during November and December.

Wal-Mart? Really?? I didn't think that was a good place to work. But I'd definitely give it a shot!

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks

Go thru your extra stuff and sell on eBay. You'll clear out some junk and make cash. Also yard sale.

I know Lowes gives a 10% discount for employees and starting pay is >$10.00. Though they have recently gotten rid of commissions that select departments previously received.

I've never worked there personally but the person who I know that does seems rather content there. They hire a lot of people just to work weekends so I think it would be a good place for you to pick up a few shifts.

I'd say go for something either with discounts you would use, or that gives tips.

Oddly enough, my second best paying job I ever had was as a waiter. I typically got myself scheduled to work the times most of the other younger people didn't want to (Weekend nights, Sunday Lunch) which were busy and usually made good tips.

It wasn't uncommon for me to work 12-18 hours on a weekend and pull in $250+ in tips alone.

Pizza delivery and softball officiating. I'm making between $21 and $32 an hour calling softball. Doing pizza on a friday night or football sunday afternoon I'd usually make between $15 and $25 an hour depending on what part of town and how busy it was. I'd also look into smaller hardware stores, they're usually looking for people to do a couple hours on a weeknight or a weekend day. Pay isn't great but most have a decent discount program that can more than make up for it.
