For a MAK-90. As the title says, what’s you guys favorite metal mags, or are you liking P-mags?
I have yet to find any AK mag, (metal or polymer) that did NOT work in my AK's......
I have ALOT of AK mags.
Any steel milsurp AK mag will do what you need it to do.
^^^ this ^^^
All the ones I owned were tops!
All the European ones I've used seem to be pretty close in construction and function. Personally for the European ones I would just be more concerned in there overall condition than place of manufacturer.
The Korean one I've handled I didn't like sheet metal gauge felt thinner than the European ones and overall didn't feel right with a quick comparison to the European ones.
I have had good luck with the 15.00 metal Bulgarian 30 rounders currently being sold
Most metal ones except for the Korean ones...
The Korean metal mags are cheap, and they work in every AK I currently own. I like them over all the others. I cannot say that for any of the other comm-bloc metal mags, polymers (foreign nor domestic) that I have (in fact, I have to mark them to know which rifles they fit). And I also own many AKs and have many mags. Some comm-block metal ones do not fit my Arsenal, VEPR, or Saiga rifles without serious modification.
The Korean ones all fit without grinding, and they drop free easily without needing to touch the mag.
Comblock surplus, only way to go.
20 round Hungarian
Watch for rust. The original Chinese ones are susceptible.
I fav's ( in order)
Polytech 30 chrome follower/ 3 witness holes
China marked 30 chrome follower/ 3 witness holes
China marked 30 flat back / no witness holes
Bulgarian 30 bladed back
Bulgarian 20 bladed back
polytech 10 round chrome follower
china marked 10 round chrome follower
They all work for me, but internet rumor says the Bulgarian mags are good.
Korean commercial mags are junk, all other metal mags are gtg
recently purchased my first AK, a Gen 3 PSA pistol, it cam with a poly mag but I've not used it, I've got 7 of the Croatian steel mags with the LRBHO feature, the follower holds the bolt open until you remove the mag, but at least lets yo know when the mag is empty, I've over 350 rounds between the first 5 I bought with no issues, bought another 2 so as I'll have my chest rig full and one in the AK.
Ahhhh haaa! I still have 9 of those precious suckers I purchase a decade ago. Totally SWEET!
I know the Koreans are making some but I got some real Hunrgy mags.
Favorite metal AK mags would be any I could find. Especially if European/Comblock manufacture. I would not spend $ on any poly mags from anyone or any country. The surplus stud simply works.
AK = not fussy. Feed it cheap steel ammo that is less money than precious brass 5.56mm ammo and Use a 50 year old mags for a good time.
Chinese flat backs are my personal favorites. Wish all of mine were flat backs.
You are unlikely to find any difference in reliability among any of the surplus combloc mags.
Load, shoot, and enjoy.
