Hello fellow gunners. I need a light for my Glock 17 standard. I never thought I would need one, but after doing a bit of reading I think it's best for Home Defense. I'm leaning toward the Streamlight TLR-3. I'm not sure how it fits on the G17 though? Any recommendations? I'd prefer that the light fits flush and doesn't stick out past the barrel, but that's just preference. Thanks in advance.

I think the TLR-3 is a great light for a great value.

Get a Surefire X200 or X300. I have never been a fan of streamlight.

nice gun. so it fits all the way to the rear near the trigger guard? i noticed that the pin groove is more toward the front of the barrel. does it move in the position you have yours in or does it stay in place?

If i had a $2,000+ dollar handgun I might put a $250 light on it. The TLR-3 is $60 bucks and gets the job done x2. Thanks, but I'll have to pass on that one.

Yes, that is actually seated in the groove and installed properly. When you buy the TLR-3 it comes with "Keys" that fit different guns, you find the right "Key" and install it in the light. The way the Glock key fits, it is actually forward on the light and you can see it sticking out a little at the front of the light, level with the thumbscrew. I really like it and have gone through several really expensive lights that I just didn't need. This one fit the bill of very bright, lightweight, and inexpensive.

    I'd rather spend this...

Surefire is the only way to go IMO. Anything else is a compromise.

Ah thanks for the simple yet informative review. I'm in the process of purchasing one for $62 right now. Woo hoo! Another cool thing I don't really need, but will enjoy!

I am a surefire superfan but in this case I like the streamlights. I am thinking about a TLR-2 for my 17L or 21 for a nightstand gun. I just saw the newest version advertised with even more power. They are the TLR-1s and TLR-2s I think.

I like my TLR1, probably going to get another. But then again I haven't tried anything else.

A few TLR-1s for me too, and one more on the way with a shotgun mount.
Never had anything else. I sure like them though.
Fits the Glock like a glove.

I just bought the TLR-3 c4 LED for 73.79 out the door it was like $61 w/o shipping. Nice! I think I'll order a TLR-1 later on with a mount for my shotgun as well if I end up liking this product, which I probably will. Thanks again.

Big +1 on that. It's as if it's made for my G17. It fits securely, with a very good quick release system.
