This, except I would include MBAM in place of Windows Defender.

However, I HIGHLY recommend you PAY for good AV/AM/AS software and Eset Smart Security (or even just Nod32 their AV) is a fine, fine, fine piece of kit.

    Free:

    Avast!
    Malwarebytes
    Spybot Search&Destroy

    Disclosure:

We used to use Avast! My wife and I never had any problem with it but about once a month her oldest son managed to get something nasty on his computer. Tired of that I purchased a 3-user license for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010. It's been several months now and his computer, and ours, has remained virus free.
