What is the best 9mm handgun in your opinion? Combat/ Duty Pistol.
The answer to your question is inherently subjective.
I really like Sig's P320 platform. I carry one in the compact configuration. I've determined it is the best pistol for me.
However, as a general answer to your question, I'd say Glock.
Very nice gun. Good choice.
CZ 75. I just shoot it much better then any of my Glocks, Sigs, Berettas, etc.
If I was going into combat, I'd want a Sig P226 on my hip.
Your gonna get a lot of different answers, but since this is a Glock forum it will be heavy with recommendations for one of the Glock models. And they will be good choices. Ask the same question on the Sig, HK, Beretta, FN or Walther forums and the overall choices would likely be different.
I could take my Glock 19, Sig P320, FNS-9, VP9 or PPQ and feel well equipped.
Assuming you have a decent weapon, in a combat or survival situation the person behind the gun is much more important than the gun itself.
Just my opinion.
I'm always fascinated by the "best xxx" questions with firearms. Theres way too many quality firearms out there and people are inherintely biased toward what they have invested in.
That said, best combat and duty firearm is a full sized glock in 9 mm or 45 acp.
Cost, accuracy, reliability, parts availability, magazine options, weight, ease of operation, etc all are great. If I had to outfit an army today they'd all have glock 17 sidearms.
Be a close battle between the P226 and Beretta 92 for me.
However, the P320 is quickly becoming my favorite shooter. The more I shoot it the more it grows on me.
For me it would be a toss up between the Beretta 92 and Sig p226, possibly even an HK P30.

I love me some GLOCKs. I also love my HK. I am very interested in Ruger's American Pistol, though. As with all Ruger's semi-autos, it seems rock solid and tough. So much so, that I'd probably buy and carry one if they offered a compact version in my preferred caliber. I think they'd be fine duty pistols.
Glock 17. No question in my mind and I've carried, trained and qualified with plenty of others.
Best combat/duty= Glock 17
Not much else to say.
Glock 17 would be my first choice.
My HK P30.....for me
Either the 17/17C or 19/19C
Back in the 90s I shot a perfect score at my NRA LE Instructor's Course with a Beretta 92. Fine gun, but the but those damn tabs on the locking block would keep me from selecting it. I always shot expert with the Sig P228. For a combat sidearm, I'd go with a Sig P226 for a hammer fired or a HK VP9 for striker fired. There are many other good options tho.
Sig 226, Beretta 92, Glock 17 would be my choices.
