Given a scenario such as: New Federal law banning all center-fire pistols. . Stuck out of State by a friend’s house when Zombies attack. But the result of the scenario is that all you have available to you is a handgun (pistol or revolver), chambered in .22 LR.

Given that, what would your choice be for the best .22 LR handgun for defense?

Well I've been doing some research on dead bodies with a new brain stimulating enzyme. . . So far no luck, but I'm hoping that. . . Hold on a second, something just moved in the other room. . . I need to go check it out. . . . . . . . . .

    .22lr or Rimfire?

I suppose my VQ 22/45 would be my .22lr of choice, but a Kel-tec PMR30 would be a better rimfire choice (assuming you can actually get one and it actually works).

My Buckmark has been very reliable, but I would probably want the pmr-30 as well.

    Well for me it is easy! I only have a S & W 10 shot 22lr revolver. It has a 6inch barrel.

Well if I'm limited to a .22LR pistol for self defense I want a Calico 100.

I'd have to choose my Ruger MKII Target being that's the only rimfire pistol I own..

I want it to fit in my pocket and be light enough to carry.

A walter P22 is close. I have one and it is quite reliable.

A taurus 22 is lighter, but with a shorter barrel. I bought 1 & it gave multiple jams and misfires on every clip. I had it sent back and a month later got it back with no improvement. The dealer said taurus wouldn't fix it until I put 200 rounds thru it. Well, its hard to get 200 rounds thru a gun that won't work!

So I bent the feed lips on the clip to stop the rounds jamming against the top of the barrel.

It missfires, probably due to weak hammer spring. Not haveing a new hammer spring, I clipped the fireing pin spring by about an 1/8 inch. Due to bad weather, I have only shot about 10 clips, but haven't had a failure.

For a gun with no extractor, I was surprised all rounds have been ejected. It shoots 3 to 4 inches low at 15 feet. I may file the front sight slightly to raise the point of impact.

I thought (?) it would be similar to shoot to my kel-tec P3AT. Similar size, weight and double action only. Also, it fits the same holster.

It does feel good to me, although the empty cases are rather deformed (that is the rim area is buldged).

Oh, The slide seems to be stainless, while the frame is white metal. Probably zinc, but maybe aluminum. The finish of the frame, slide and barrel match quite well.

If zombies are attacking, I won't be giving a squirt about Federal laws. The Gov't won't, either.

I guess I would switch over to a revolver just in case I could not get my favorite ammo. A revolver would give me the best chance at 100% reliability with poor quality ammo and would be the fastest back into action if there was a failure to fire.

A couple suppressed rugers should do the trick.
