I have a Bersa Thunder 380 pistol. Specifically the CC model. The instructions don't mention it and I am still waiting for the Bersa Distributor to answer this question: Can the Bersa pistols, especially the CC version, shoot +P ammo?

I am thinking I'd like to have some +P for carry (if I DO use it) and not a steady diet of higher pressure ammo.

Does anyone know? Thanks for any information! :wavey:

There is NO such thing as 380ACP+P ammunition for the BERSA company to say is okay in their pistols.

Bersa will direct you to your local gunsmith or one of their authorized repair shops for advise on that matter. My Bersa Thunder 380 will shoot +P ammo with no ill-effects but I would not make a steady diet of it.

Typically, as soon as I checked another source (here) Bersa replied. Looks like it's all right in small doses:

What kind of ammunition can I use in my BERSA pistol?
+P rated ammunition is acceptable for use in BERSA firearms. For your
knowledge, it is a possibility that the constant use of this
ammunition may increase the normal wear of the gun. Additionally,
hollow and or flat-nose bullets can be used if they are in standard
commercial cartridges. However, sometimes the hollow point bullets
will not feed, in which the feed ramp will need to be polished. This
    is not covered under warranty.

Can I use +P ammunition in my Bersa pistol?
Bersa pistols have been designed to support all kind of ammunitions
considered under the international standards like SAAMI, among these
ammunitions we can find the denominated +P. Nevertheless it is worth
mentioning that the constant use of this kind of cartridge may
increase the normal wear of the gun.

Like most "+P" issues, it is a matter of accelerated wear more than a safety issue.

But then again I think some people are overly concerned with a few fps.

THERE IS NO-NONE-NADA SAAMI SPECIFICATION FOR THE 380ACP/9MMKURZ/9MMCORTO/9MM-17 ETC CARTRIDGE PERIOD. NONE !!!!
SOMEONE, and I do know who, came up with slapping +P on SAAMI SPEC cartridges which did not and do NOT have a PLUS P desigantion to sell ammunition to the ignorent/suckers, and the foolish who think they can buy what they do not have, shooting skills.

From Beras..." However, sometimes the hollow point bullets will not feed, in which the feed ramp will need to be polished..."

    robhic,

When I carry factory ammunition in my Bersa Thunder this is what I use.

Hornady "Custom" Factory 380 Auto Ammunition
    90g XTP HP
    Velocity - 1,000 FPS (my 6 shot average - 893.2 fps @ 80 degrees)
    OAL - .965"

These feed well fire every time, no ejection issues and I can hold a fairly tight pattern out to 20 yards. I would not recommend polishing the feed ramp to any particular round.

The lure of the +P is there for sure but your ability to effectively put your first shot on target and secondly how fast can you re-acquire your target. When a round causes your firearm to become too "snappy", it's time to look for something a bit more manageable.

Just some food for thought. Good luck and be safe out there

I have some (2 boxes) on order and some Cor-Bon DPX (2 boxes) to try. 380 was hard to find! Almost as bad as .38 spl.

    Thanks for the info!
