I am thinking of getting some Berry' pleated bullets in 180 gr to shoot out of my Glock 23. I was thinking of using Power Pistol as that's what I have. Anyone have any loads that they have been using as just mild plinking rounds? Thanks for the help!

If your talking about alliant Power Pro 300 MP that is only for Magnum Pistols and not for .40 s&w. it is to slow of a burning speed . You be much better off with Alliant Unique or Power Pistol, or another medium burner in the .40.

If it's another Power Pro it's probably a Rifle powder.

I have found that 5.4gr of WSF, COAL = 1.125", cci spp's, shoots about 930-940fps. Nice soft shooting runs my 22 and 23 very well and very accurate with the Berry's 180 flat points.

Old stand by: Berry's 180 FP 1.125 OAL 6.0-6.5 AA#5 works great out of my G23.

Berry's plated 180, 6.3 grains Alliant PP, Win Small Pistol Caps, give or take 900 fps. You could start at 6 grains and work it up a hair if needed but I didnt realize I could rent a cg at that point so Id guess a hair over 800 fps.

No problem. I load 6.5gr Power Pistol under 180gr. Berrys FP at 1.200" oal for about 960fps out of 3.5" Kahr CW40. I would start with about 6gr of pp and work up your load.

    Good Luck.

    Here try this.

    4.5 gr, Power Pistol – 1.130 OAL

Which should get you 770 fps 136 Power factor for IDPA.

Power Pistol isn't the best choice for mild plinking rounds. But this is going to get you your best results with what you already have. Once you are through with your Power Pistol I suggest you try win 231 for your mild plinking rounds with 180gr's.

Power Pistol and picking will not go together. If you insist using Power Pistol, anything less than 75 percent of full load will be allot of residue and a large flash.

Power pistol is normal with a flash, but at very mild loads is very large!

i use berry's 165gr 1.135 oal with 6.5 grains of AA#5 . Very soft shooting and runs well through my 23.

While it is true that Power pistol is louder than some other powders I have not noticed a lot of residue or burnt cases.

Hey Shotgun quick question what charge weight of W231 with a Berry's 180 bullet do you recommend. The reason being is I'm looking something for a GSSF match next year. 40 S&W brass is plentiful at the range and I figure at the 5-6 reloads let it go since it's a "Lost Brass Match" anyways. Thanks in advance.

Also at that same PF 135 or so

I findnothing "normal" about PP muzzle blast w/ any charge level, it just makes a bigger bang. It's a good powder for upper end loads, but WSF is a bit better for less than top end loads, much less blast & flash.

Anyone load the Berry 180 FP with AA#7, IMR 800X or Clays? That's all the powder I have, lol.

I wasn't a fan of the AA#7 with that combo. There was too much unburnt powder left behind. I know I wasn't loading to max and that is probably why there was unburnt powder. I switched to WSF and never looked back.
