If I'm not mistaken, Mec-Gar still makes the original manufacturer's mags for all Beretta pistols, so there's no difference at all between them and they should be equal in every way!
Beretta factory mags are made by Mec-Gar.
Mec-Gar mags are a little less expensive.
They are both excellent.
Conclusion: Mec-Gar labeled mags.
What those guys said.
Yep,......

I have both, they are outstanding!
MDS mags are good as well. MDS is actually owned by the Beretta Group so in a sense your buying a factory mag when you buy MDS.
Mec Gar magazines are excellent. I have several for my Beretta 92fs and they hold 3 more rounds vs the factory magazines.
Same as my Sig. Mec Gar makes the factory mags for Sig. Only difference is ones stamped Sig and they others stamped Mec Gar and about 20 dollars.
Mec-Gar is not the OEM manufacturer of basic Beretta magazines for the duty size guns, both PB in Italy and BUSA are. The simple test/proof of this is that Mec-Gar does not make PX4 magazines and they are not available through them. BUSA makes the magazines for the .32ACP Tomcat too.

MDS= Meccanica Del Sarca, is a wholly owned Beretta subsidiary which also makes Beretta duty sized pistol compatible magazines with different roll markings.

Mec-Gar once made the OEM magazines for Beretta's smaller caliber pistol lines (84, 21, 950,) and still makes after market magazines and specialty OEM "anti-friction" magazines for the M9/92FS.

Between their own capabilities and those of MDS, they do not need Mec-Gar as the OEM.
JMOfartO:

I've had (or still have) a pile of pistols over the half century I've been a pistol owner, and I've come to the conclusion that when they are available there are ONLY two magazines I want for my pistols.

1. Factory
2. MecGar

Even if MecGar makes the factory mags, I still prefer factory when I have the choice, but that's only because I'm old and opinionated....

It's always amazed me that a person will spend $500-$1000 bucks on a quality pistol and then complain about the price of extra mags... Hey, you don't need but 2-3 anyway.:dunno:

Just personal opinion, no offense.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

+1

I like Mec-Gar as good or better than factory mags. Beretta has some anti friction coating mags that came out in response to the desert conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan. The mags that screwed up a lot there were .gov contracted Checkmate mags and I would touch one of them or ANY other companies mags w/ a 10 foot pole.
I bought four 20 round Mec-Gar magazines for my 9mm Beretta CX Storm carbine and they worked flawless. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
i have had good results with mec gar and i have heard a ton of good things about them.
