Beretta 92FS/M9

    Im thinking of picking up a Beretta 92. Whats the difference between the FS and the M9? Also, does anyone carry one concealed IWB?

    Cosmetic differences between the two.

    As far as concealed carry, why not? It's been done before.

    I believe the dust cover of the frame is slightly different as well.

    Straight dust cover of M9 as opposed to the slanted dust cover on the 92FS Italian.

    I like it but it is too much bulkier than a G26 for me to want to carry.

    I am a big fan of Beretta 92. No major differences between the two, I cant tell them apart at a glance. As far as CCW IWB goes no way, not for me atleast. I don't care for IWB as it is, but the 92 is a big beautiful gun and would have to be a OWB with cover garment gun for sure.

    I know Shipwreck carried a 92FS, then went to a Compact and now I think he currently carries a Shield in the pocket. A 92FS is possible to carry IWB, but it requires a certain type of clothing to do so. I wear normal size jeans/pants and shirts so it's defiantly not possible for me.

    I got a 92A1 not too long ago and it's a damn fine pistol, but it's also a pretty big pistol. I would think CC of it would require more careful consideration of belt, holster and cover garments. It could be done though if you really wanted to.

    You won't regret owning one. Nice shooting pistol.

    I have a 92FS and a 92 compact. Both great guns, the compact is a half inch shorter in barrel and grip.

    But honestly, they are a bit large and heavy compared to other choices like a Glock 17 or 19, of comparable capacity. Or my favorite the 26, the best carry gun on the planet :)

    You can carry the 92, and I have, but the real question is do you want to? :)

    I don't think the m9 has the big warning on the dustcover like a standard 92fs does. It is possible to carry iwb, i do so daily with the m9a1, a shirt that is a little loose fitting and long covers just fine. Finding a decent iwb for the 92fs should be fairly easy. A good sturdy belt is really needed.

    M9 has serials engraved on barrell, slide and hammer. Not just the frame. At least the real military ones do. Other than that it's the same gun. I wouldn't recommend it for concealed carry except maybe in a shoulder rig. Try it on your belt, and see for yourself. :)

    Hammers say 9346463 65490.

    Pretty guns, especially the blued ones with wood grips, but it's a combat sidearm, not a carry gun.

    Have to disagree, the 92 is a fine ccw!

    HeJJ I know a guy who carries a 44 Mag Desert Eagle in the winter.

    I've always wanted a 92, so I just purchased a 92 FS Vertec. SHould get here today. Will just be a range gun and possibly HD. I mean, if you grew up watching Die Hard and Lethal Weapon, you have to buy a 92 right?
