I was trying to polish my Glock slide so I started with taking the slide to a bench grinder for a 30 minute run on each side, then I sanded each side for 1hr with 200 grit sand paper. She looks really bad, did I do something wrong? I tried to clean her up by heating her up in the oven for 2 hrs on 500 degrees then scrapping with a razor blade and she still doesn't look good. Now I tried to polish my barrel but it doesn't look right either:dunno:

I soaked my barrel for 2 days in very strong acid to remove black color and then I sanded with 200 grit for 1hr. Now I polished her with some Flitz and a very coarse sanding stone on my dremel. Any ideas what I did wrong?

Just a scientific wild *** guess here but my bet is the problem with the finish on that Glock is a combination of high heat, corrosive liquid and abrasive substances.

    I could be wrong though.

I think you were supposed to put the Glock's frame in the oven at 500 for 2 hours. :tongueout:

In order to help you please post pics of the complete slide.
Did you soak the slide or just the barrel?
If so what did you use?
    Thank you.

Welp, that's the problem with a SWAG, always leave some important factor out of the equation.

I'll watch. Its almost as good as the story my friends Dad had about this fellow LEO that didn't like how his bullets lost their shine after a while. So he dipped them in a solvent to shine em up. He had a surprise on range day.... KaBoom! The solvent found its way into the cartridge causing a big FAIL.
