    Hi all,

I was wondering what the majority of people use for a good carry belt.

Is the most common size 1.5" width?

Do you use just one color or have multiple color belts such as black and brown?

Currently have a 1-1/2" black belt from Crossbreed. Got two on order from Beltman - both are 1-1/4" - one black, one brown.

The 1-1/2" is very tight or doesn't fit in dress pants belt loops. That's why I'm getting the 1-1/4" belts from Beltman.

Only have one gun belt, a 1 1/2 " Galco in tan color. It fits the belt loops on all my blue jeans which is what you'd see me dressed in 98% of the time. It matches the leather on my holster. Not worrying about fashion but most of my shoes are brown except running type. If I had it to do over again I'd get a black holster and a black belt. I think that if it accidently was exposed that the black belt, black holster and black gun would not show as much. Only been carrying about a year and a half so I'm pretty new at carrying. If you order on-line follow the sizing instructions for your size of belt. Mine is 2" longer than my regular belts. Do whatever the manufacturer says for belt sizing. Think I'll order a black belt soon.

All 1.5" belts for me...jeans and Dockers are as dressy as I get. It's very important to match the belt with the holster slots to avoid loose, sloppy carry.

1.5" Beltman. Black. Jeans mostly, so the width is fine with my SuperTuck.

Thanks for the feedback. I expect my CHL to be approved in approximately 30 days and I wanted to find out from experienced peopel what most are using.

    Thanks again!

I recognize that I'm in the minority but I can't tell you how much more comfortable my 1 3/4" belts are than my 1 1/2" to me.

    I use a 1 3/4 in. Wilderness Tactical.

It's great with jeans or shorts, prob. not the best with khaki or dress slacks...

I use The Beltman in 1-1/4" leather & The Wilderness in 1-1/2". You can't go wrong.

The success of your gun belt will also depend on what and how you intend to carry. Even well designed gun belts have their limitations. I'm a big Beltman fan--his materials and craftsmanship are superb. My fourth one is on order right now. But, all things have their limits....

Like Racer, I like to wear my Beltman belts with dress slacks so I bought three 1.25" bullhide belts in different colors so that I would never have to wear anything else. These are great belts and work wonderfully for every IWB combination I own (9mm and 45acp). They work fine for OWB with my 9mms. However, I found that my G30SF in a High Noon Slide Guard (a high ride OWB) completely overwhelmed these belts. After consulting with Jim (the Beltman), we decided a 1.5" horsehide belt would be sufficiently stronger to support this combination. We will see.

So, the moral of the story is that there is no panacea for every possible combination. Think about what you're going to carry, its weight, how high the weight will ride on your belt, what kind of slacks you intend to wear and buy a belt that will perform under those demands. This may well mean more than one belt.

1 1/2" tan Beltman fits jeans or dress pants. It's the only belt I wear. The next one will probably be a 1 3/4" maybe in black. :wavey:

I wear dress pants every day to work. There are some that either won't accomodate a 1-1/2" belt, or will be VERY tight.

But, hey.... a guy can't have too many gun belts, right?
