There is no "the flu". There are a number of flu strains. This of course a *****cat next to the Spanish Flu of 1918-1920.

As a coronavirus, it is much more akin to a cold, many strains of which are corona viruses. And much closer to SARS and MERS which are corona viruses. Both of which had higher mortality rates but spread much less widely, thankfully.

Unlike what some of some of you(generic) want to believe, this is not an end of the world virus. It is another novel virus to humans, and therefore the public has less natural immunity. This has happened before (see above examples), and will happen again. Please panic if you wish, and stop living your life, while the rest of us take what precautions we wish and go on living.

I read cases have been spiking in FL, even 2 local DJs on the morning show just tested positive and they're all broadcasting from home.

I suppose eventually there will be a "bug" that will wipe out the human race......hopefully this isn't the one.

We will never likely know. Their ability to understand how and why anyone in the slums has died is very limited. 5 million people live shoulder to shoulder in Mumbai slums...with over 1 million in Dharavi alone.

quote from the Epoch times with the Chinese claiming it came from imported salmon:

"During a June 15 broadcast on state-run CCTV, Yang Peng, a specialist on infectious disease control at the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), was quoted as saying that after genetic sequencing, the virus found at the market was similar to the strain found in Europe. However, Dr. Sean Lin, former lab director of the viral disease branch at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, said it’s impossible for salmon to transmit a type of coronavirus to humans."

I guess it's easier to blame imported salmon rather than US soldiers somehow in China spreading the virus.

The Black Death didn't wipe us out, though it got a bunch. There's a Prime 2016 video lecture series on the Black Death that's instructive. It explores it from different perspectives. I caught myself thinking 'that sounds familiar'.

Looking like our current form of covid is not as deadly (Plague was bacteria: covid is virus).

I am once again reminded: "so what?"

I enjoyed the coronapocalypse as much as anyone but, after a couple of months, even the daily opportunity to feel superior to whining, hysterical people starts to wear thin. I will say I still enjoy the working from home part, of course.

Not likely unless it’s a Bioweapon. Avian flu viruses will likely cause a pandemic at some point.

Of course, we can’t rule out another “oops” moment coming out of China.

We’re fortunate that China had an “oops” moment with a virus with a relatively low mortality rate.

I hope they have installed better safeguards at their research facilities.

    1. Nothing coming out of China is to be believed, whether good or bad. Nothing. It's all 100% lies.

    2. Of course India is going to see a lot of cases. That's perfectly logical.
