Here's my latest Michigan Firearms Examiner article. This one is an interview with Phil Morden following his elimination from the show.

Behind the scenes on Top Shot season 3 with Phil Morden

"Michigan's own Phil Morden was eliminated from Top Shot season 3 on Tuesday after a controversial elimination challenge where he faced a previously eliminated contestant brought in after Phil's designated opponent, Jake Zweig, suddenly quit the show.

I recently interviewed Phil about the competition, his relationship with the other competitors, and the allegations by a former season 2 cast member that the show is "rigged" by the producers."

Thanks for the article. I watched the second series because I knew two of the competitors. It was a disappointing series because of the drama. The actual challenges were pretty good, but they took a back seat. It's a shame because I think the premise is a good one. I thought the 'group dynamics' was rather unhealthy, but then I am not much of a 'reality show' audience.

Here is part 2 of my interview with Phil Morden about Top Shot season 3. If you are a fan of the show there is some good stuff about the challenges, the personalities, and "WTF was up with Jake?" in the articles.

Here is Part2. Part 3 is coming soon.

Phil Morden talks about Jake Zweig's decision to quit Top Shot

Great article(s)!!!!!

I too, think that since Jake quit, that Phil should've been given 'a pass' and remain on the show.
Jake quit. One person left the competition (albeit voluntarily)!

Personally, I'd like to see that 'Proper Decorum' be a requirement, but, decorum doesn't make ratings.

Still. . . glad to see Jake out the door. He, ladies and gentlemen, was a sphincter muscle!

I doubt they will ever have another Jake on the show, even if they could find him.

Those challenges are expensive. Also, the manufacturers pay a certain amount of endorsements, to guarantee there time on camera. I think challenges like the stone throw garbage are there in case this does happen, and they can just shift the different comps. Once you get to a certain point, however, they need a certain amount of competitions to cover the endorsements. Rather than give the money back, and waste all the time and effort, they are going to run the competition, even if it is not "fair".

Jake was a bastard through and through. The second interview simply confirmed my argument.

Thanks for the heads up.
