Been using Ubuntu OS for about a month.........

    on my laptop......

    Good Lord, why did someone not tell me about this sooner?????

    i don't think i will ever use Windows again (unless i have to for a few programs).......

    faster, lighter, simpler.........anybody else use this????

    Back when I first started playing around with Linux (long before Ubuntu even existed), it was a major accomplishment getting it up and running on a laptop. That is, if you wanted a GUI interface. It's come a long way.

    Ubuntu and variants are definitely as user-friendly as Windows.

    I have mixed feelings about he latest ubuntu with the revamped interface. I kind of like linux mint actually.

    I have played with it a few times, and for many tasks, or just for surfing the Web, it's great. The thing that has stopped me from using it instead of Windows, is that there are always a few important things that won't work on Linux without workarounds that take all the fun out of it.

    One excellent use for Linux is if you have an old computer that's screwed up, and you don't have an extra copy of Windows around. Put Linux on it, and it will likely run better than it ever did with Windows. And, the price is definitely right.
