i May be pronouncing it wrong, but how many divisions do you have to win to be considered a master shooter and not be in the same Amateur Civilian category in GSSF?

I have won a few divisions and won 2 guns, but I have also won a few other divisions, but not won a gun and have instead won a money prize ($100.00).

I wasn’t sure if you have to win a certain number of guns to get bumped up or if you just have to win divisions a certain number of times. Thanks for your help!

If you win 3 times total in any division by your score you are then a master. Randoms do not count.

Rule #170.50 Pulled from GSSF rules page 18. Definition of “Master”.
The competitor has won three (3) GLOCK firearms as “high overall” in any division at previous GSSF matches.

GSSF will let you know and then you get to shoot with the pros and sponsored shooters.

Don't be too eager. Once you win 3, you're no longer competing against Amateurs, but running with the "Big Dogs".I got my G42 early on, before a lot of people were entering Pocket Glock, and, with mediocre scores, beat all the other Amateurs in 3 back to back matches. Now all I can look forward to is "Random" draws.

Yep, I should have said 3 guns. You're lucky not to make master if you can keep on winning $100 in am civ. Gets really tough for some of us to win after making master.

Haha. I’m not eager at all to become a master, I was just wondering if the top scores in some of the smaller divisions that not enough ppl are entered in was going to put me into that category without winning a gun.

I’ve won 4 guns total so far. 2 in the new member drawing (G30 for my first time, G34 for when I brought a new member to the match) and 2 guns in the actual matches (G27 for my first win, and won another one this year, going to get a Gen 5 G26).

I enjoy shooting in GSSF a ton, it’s a great time.

I made master some time ago, and still thoroughly enjoy the matches even though I am a low to mid level master with very little chance of winning a gun as a top finishing master. I keep hoping for that lucky random prize though. I use the high masters performances as an example of why you do not need to modify a Glock to shoot them well.
I know people that made master and stopped going to matches because they felt they would not be able to win. My feeling is if that is the only reason you attend, you are missing the whole point of it all.
They are fun you meet and interact with like minded people, and I enjoy trying in my own little way to give guidance to the new shooters to help them along.
It is unfortunate no other gun company does anything similar!

Looking at the GSSF rulebook, I can see they updated one definition of Master. Somebody in Smyrna has a sense of humor.

I never did get a Master patch, but with the way I shoot, I think I'd rather have a patch that says Accomplished Amateur than Celler Dweller Master.
