    Orders from Bass Pro Shop take forever to arrive. When a package I ordered was still not received after a week from receiving shipping notification I called and asked who the carrier, "R.R. Donnelley", was.

    I was told that they are a private contractor that handles bulk mail with the post office.

    No USPS priority mail, I guess.

    What's a "bulk mailing service" in relation to a mail order business, anyway?

    package arrived today.

    Well, at least they got three out of five items right. I got two jars of Uncle Fester's pork rind baits instead of two spools of fishing line. ;Q

    Bulk mailers deliver their large mailings to large postal facilities, often in full truckload lots. They often pre-sort this mail and receive large postage discounts for doing so.

    The only "R.R. Donnelley" I know is a printer who specializes in phone books, catalogs, etc. Bass Pro must be piggy-backing their freight on Donnelly trucks to economize on postage. Who knows, maybe Donnelly prints the Bass Pro catalog.

    Neither did I. Oh, that's "Uncle Josh's" brand, not "Fester's" ;)

    I might just keep them as it's more bother to send them back and get what I ordered (provided it's in stock). In terms of time. This order took two weeks. Naw, I'll just buy fishing line at Wally World.
