This pic is from my recent fishing/camping trip right after Memorial Day. There were TONS of bass in this lake, most of them were under 10 inches. However, there were also some this size that went absolutely berzerk over live bluegills used as bait. *smile*

Okay, you said you used bluegills for bait, now show us the bass!;f

Where is that in the picture taken. I lived at Travis AFB when I was younger, in the late '70s early '80s. I remember some great fishing in the sloughs in the Grizzly Island area.

I find it easier to fish without electrician’s tape over my eyes and mouth;e
nice fish though, it's about over for bass up in these parts.

It's 20 miles west of Truckee near the I-80 and highway 20 intersection, a small PG&E lake surrounded by private property. Here's another pic showing a bass with the live bait still hanging on.

I live 6 miles from Travis AFB... small world.

If that little fish was hitting on bluegills, that's fun fishing! That's when I break out the light tackle and have some fun. Which is also usually about the same time a record bass will hit my line and snap that little 4lb test like it was a string of glass.

I know that area. Van Norden, Donner, Kidds Lakes. Good little holes out there. My brother is stationed at Travis now. I loved that part of the state. Too bad it has to follow the rules that are made for the rest of the state.

I thought using perch in CA for bait was illegal? Were you free lining them?
