Swapping out G23 Gen 4 40S&W barrel for 9mm questions:

    1. What is the common cost for the replacement barrel?

    2. Going from 40 S&W to 9mm can I still use 40 S&W mags?

    3. I assume I cannot go up in barrel size, true or false?

    Thank for your time.

You should get a .40-9mm conversion barrel designed to be used in the G23. There are extended barrels that fit that description, but they must be made for the G23. Barrels made for larger models like the G22,24,35 will not work.

    And you'll need 9mm magazines, either G19 magazines, G17 magazines, or 31/33-round 9mm magazines.

    1) $125/145 and up to ~200 or more
    2) Use 9mm mags
    3) ??? G22 no, extended G23 yes.

probably just stating the obvious...don't forget to switch out your RSA as well.

I plan to drop a .357 SIG barrel into my G23 soon, as they work quite well with existing, but 9mm is a little more involved.

I shoot the LWD 40-9 conversion and G32, 357 Sig, barrels in my G23 compact 40. I use 9mm G17/G19 mags with the 40-9 conversion. I use the G23 mags with the 357 barrel. When my gun was brand new, I had to shoot 124g 9mm bullets to get a reliable ejection. Now, I have a case plus of ammo through the gun and it shoots Federal (wimpy) and WWB 115g bullets with no problems due to loosening up the recoil spring. CCI 115g would also have probably solved this problem as they are pretty hot rounds. I made no other modifications to the gun. I am very happy with LWD barrels. I paid about $110 before shipping about a long year ago. The Gen3 and Gen4 barrels are slightly different. The cut out for the RSA has a slightly larger diameter in the Gen4. I suspect LWD has an FAQ on this issue. Go for it and enjoy.

Just get the 9mm conv barrel for range use. For any carry, ejector needs to be changed.

Once you start, you'll have 10mm Glocks with 40sw and 357 sig barrels too:whistling:

I, and others, have 1000s of flawless rounds through our 40-9mm guns with the 40 ejector/extractor.
Plus we like no brass to the face - LOL!.

Screwing around with something that works perfect seems like a bad idea.
I personally have no reason to believe the 40 ejector will malfunction in any way.
    And carry it with confidence.

    I'm just saying...

I don't know about the gen 4 guns.
Gen 3 G26/G27/G33 guns all use the same RSA.
    Generally speaking,
it's my understanding that Glock 40/357 to 9mm conversion requires only barrel and magazine changes.
    Nothing else.
    Not ejectors or RSA.
Just drop in, load and go.

One minor item: if your .40 Glock has a loaded chamber indicator extractor, with the 9mm conversion installed the LCI probably will not stick out on a loaded 9mm chamber. This does NOT mean the extractor will fail to extract; you just will not have the indicator working.

    It's funny,
my gen 3 G27 does have a LCI but I never use it.

So I dropped in the Storm Lake G27 40-9mm conversion barrel,
    a G26 mag and loaded up a Speer 9mm GDHP 124 +P.
    My LCI works fine.
G27 is gen 3, has a 03/23/11 test fire date and SN is RHR NNN.

Didn't even think about changing the RSA on my 23. After 500 rounds with no problem, don't think I will.

LWD 40-9 barrel on cheaper than Dirt, 2 9mm 10 round mags, shipping, about $180. Easily paid for itself.

You're correct about the Gen3 guns, RSA replaces G19-23-32-38.

In the OP's Gen4, G23 and G19 have their own respective RSAs.

Personally I still think, even with updated RSAs, the new Glocks are arguably over sprung, so I guess chock one up for Glocks to cater springs to the load.

G27 runs fine with my LWD barrel.
LCI tells you there's a 9mm in chamber.
.40 mags hold 11 9mm rounds and run them just fine (although top round sits a little high)
115 gr cheapies eject (but just barely).

CTD advertizes the LWD conversion for
    $99.97
But they are always out of stock, at least for the last few months.
The Glock Store ad's the LWD for $109.97 & seem to have an ample supply.
< Where ever you buy Make Sure you talk to a Human to avoid any Error with your Order>
As ive heard a lot about Crappy Customer Service from Lone Wolf.
ALSO I have heard & seen pro's & cons on keeping the 40 mag. & ejector (40-Straight vs 9mm bent) Check out You Tube. I also have fit 12 spent 9mm rounds in my 40 mag but the last round seems to stick in the mag.
When I get my conversion I will find out what problems will occure with live 9mm rounds.
IF it passes the 300 round test with No other Mods I will carry with no worries
