I'm sorry, but think if I had found this cash, I would have kept my mouth shut. But how in heck can anybody lose this kind of money??

Virginia family finds nearly $1M in bags on road during drive
A family suffering from cabin fever due to the coronavirus lockdown in Virginia went out for a drive on Saturday and stumbled upon two bags of cash totaling nearly $1 million, according to a report.
In an almost Hollywood-style plot twist, David and Emily Schantz of Caroline County were driving with their children and found the bags lying out in the middle of the street.

The wheels of their pickup drove over what they thought was trash, according to Fox 5 D.C. After stopping and putting the bags in the car, they kept on driving.

It wasn't until they arrived home and examined the contents that they realized the bags were stuffed with cash.

“Inside of the bag, there were plastic baggies and they were addressed with something that said ‘cash vault,’” Schantz told WTVR.

After making the discovery, they reached out to the county sheriff's office. Deputies were then dispatched to their home to investigate. The deputies took inventory of the money and did a full accounting of the bag's contents.

Caroline County Sheriff’s Maj. Scott Moser said authorities have determined where the money was headed, but they're reportedly still trying to find out how it ended up on the road.

...and that's the last anyone ever heard of it.

In other news, the Sheriff and Deputies all bought new Cadillacs...

SUCKAHS. You find money like that, you keep your mouth shut, keep it out of your bank account and don't go on a wild spending spree. Keep working but enjoy an easy life.

I always try to do the right thing but dang I would have thoughts running through my head!

We just had a similar incident here in Florida young poor broke guy found stacks of money next to an ATM left by the armored car filler up guy. The kid turned it all over to the police and he is getting some well deserved thanks and gifts.

I found money once. I gave it to a police officer. He put it in his wallet.

Granted, it was only $10 and I was only about 8 at the time but it left an impression.

Yeah, it'd be tempting but failing to return it would haunt me for the rest of my life. I'd hope that whatever individual or entity it belonged to would give the finders a generous finder's fee. Don

If it was the life savings of Grandma Jones down the street I would return it in a minute.

If it was a couple of sacks some thugs tossed out the window of the caddy while trying to evade the police I would squirrel it away in the gun safe and spend a little bit every day til the day I die, spread it thin. None the wiser.

That's tough one.

If it was someone else's life savings, I couldn't enjoy it. If it was some dealers stack that he left on top of his hooptie, I'd be set for life, financially.

I think I'd take a wait and see approach and be on the lookout for this guy...

I'd be off to the casino to launder a bit of it then off to the Porsche dealer. :D
