I have a Western Digital usb drive. Its trial version of backup SW has expired. Is there a good free version of something out there that will auto synch specified folders on c: drive to this drive?

    You Bet!

I like Robocopy, and I know others here like XXcopy...

Either should do the trick... I simply got Robocopy down so it's the one I use. One way, or bi-directional replication at intervals or real time. Scary to use at times... (LOL) but FREE. I have successfully used it cross country on WANs as well with great results.

    HTH...

I've been using Sync Toy, from Microsoft's Download Center, for several years. You can select "sychronize, echo, or contribute" for the folder pairs you set up. Works fine and it's free. Not autosync, but once folder pairs are set up, it takes seconds to initiate.

You should also check out "Allway Sync". It is free for non-commercial use and I've had good luck with it. DSynchronize is another GUI based copy type program that is nice, but it is a little more cryptic but more powerful than Allway Sync. Good luck!
