Is an avatar a file format? How does one create an avatar and what are sizing considerations when one wants to place one under one's name. Perhaps you can recommend a link to avatar info. I've checked in FAQs and several of my graphics programs and am drawing blanks. Thanks

OK I just located that max size is 75 x 75 pixels or 5120 bytes. I also noticed that the standard avatars are in .gif format, so I can dl my pic in that format, but what exactly is an avatar?

Avatar is just the nickname they call your picture... it means nothing.

keep your jpg or gif to the size limitations you mentioned and then upload your picture, also make sure to click the "YES use custom Avatar" After you select your picture.... cause if you click it before the click mark disappears once you search for your avatar.
