Yes. It is very good Texas BBQ. I just had Franklin's again on Sunday while I was in Austin, and wish I brought more food back with me. I only brought 2 lbs of meat back. :crying:

I apologize for not answering your question because I never tried it... I wish I had. However, one of my all time favorite restaraunts anywhere (last time there was 1999) was Guero's in Austin. It is Tex Mex. I only posted this because if you like Tex Mex as well as BBQ, you should go there while in Austin... Of course there is no guarantee it is still there or even good anymore. But if it is, check it out.

    Again, I apologize.

Oh yea, the Saltlick is BYOB if that's something important to your bbq experience.

According to a lot of folks its some of the best bbq in Texas. They say you better get there early, or you'll be stuck in a line wrapped around the building.

It's good, but I'm with those who say Saltlick blows Franklin away!

Cooper's in Llano is the Holy Grail of Texas BBQ. Not too far from Austin and it is a pretty drive through the Hill Country.

I heard that and we rode our bikes out there on the way down to Austin one weekend. I wasn't that impressed, although it was ok, not close to the best in TX.

Not a fan of Black's, but Smitty's and Kreuz Market in Lockhart get my vote. Went to Cooper's, it was an amazing setup, but I still prefer Lockhart barbecue.

Another Salt Lick fan. Also, City Market in Luling is worth the drive.

i've been to cooper's several times during wild flower road trips in the spring, and
i've yet to see a smoke ring on their brisket.
    i wonder if they par-boil?
    their sausage is great.

Salt Lick is pretty much the standard by which all BBQ in Texas is measured by.
Now there are some other good ones, but thats damn near as good as it gets.
