    1) How is the best, least expensive way to track a vehicle's location? I'm guessing it will have to be GPS but I need it inexpensive if possible.

    2) What is a good digital recorder that is completely silent and hopefully voice activated, again expense is a factor.

    Thanks guys!

Dude, if your wife's cheating on you, can you really put a price tag on that?

GPS vehicle tracker stuff is most likely going to cost you $350.00 to $500.00 initially unless you're going to sign for a service contract. It is going to be a little difficult to slide under someone's bumper and install it. Most of the commercially available stuff needs to be wired to a power source.

As far as the recorder, just hit Radio Shack or similar store. The voice activated recorders are pretty common and prices run the range from high end to low end. The problem is recovering the device for later listening.

Be careful and best of luck. Keep in mind lawyers are frightfully expensive too.

It's for a close family member who is asking for help, things are over after 43 years but we need evidence for the courts later on, a lot is at stake here.

It is best to use a state licensed Private Investigator. In my state, they are bound by confidentiality laws and cannot disclose anything to anyone other than the client, the state regulatory agency, and the Courts upon court order.

If you do it yourself and get caught.... there may be civil and or criminal consequences.

I say just go talk to a decent PI and get some advice. They have experience with such things (especially legal experience) and will have some ideas. My employer used to use them quite often and they were quite effective at what they did in stopping corporate espionage, employee theft, serious moonlighting, etc. They also were not very expensive.

Gee didn't think about any of that. All the lady wants is a location to go to so she can take pictures as the 2 leave different rooms. She needs this so no one can deny what is happening. It's a big family mess and I'm just trying to help if I can.

Sometimes, one just has to do the dirty work one's self and not ask others to sacrifice on one's behalf.

It may be cliche', but good intentions are not a defense in court.

If all she needs is pics get her a rental car and stake out the place. Most people are oblivious and would never notice.

That or hire a PI if it is going to save money in the long run it is best to hire up front.

Also keep in mind recording conversations can get you into trouble via wiretapping laws.
