See the Reason for CCW thread for the initial post but anyways:

We were in Denver and were trying to follow a GPS directions, but I guess the maps were outdated and they had redone the roads because it kept dead-ending us into construction zones. We knew we were in a bad part of town just from the looks of buildings and the crowds (it was dusky with a little light). Pulled up to a light and got green for my lane started to go and cross-traffic a car ran the light and about clipped me and we both slammed our brakes on. Originally i thought they hit me so i pulled over onto the curb-side lane and got out to inspect my car, and about that time they looped around and parked behind me (it was an old cadillac seville or something) and 4 guys immediately jumped out guns in hand and started approaching the car(10 yards or so away)

Fight or flight hit and I signaled my fiance to call 911 and she did and I delayed them from seeing her so she was off the phone by the time they saw her. They wanted wallets, purse, keys, etc and at gun point walked us into an ally (took about 5 minutes) and about that time sirens could be heard and within a minute the police arrived and the men threw our stuff and ran with one hopping in the car and taking off but I had gotten the plate from the car and two of the four men were arrested within an hour and the other two were never captured.

Quite scary but I did my best to delay, yet comply to buy time because should we have been taken to the ally, I dont think we'd made it. I am not sure what I could have done with a gun, but my options would have been more numerous and should we had been in a narrow ally, I probably would have enough of a choke to take the four gunmen on but i really dont know.

You reacted perfectly, given the situation. Your girlfriend and you both. Limited resources, quick thinking, survival, and capture of the baddies.

You also realized the error of not having a CCW and corrected it.

We (the cops) would gladly take care of shooting these mother ****ers if given the opportunity, but the fact is, the opportunity will most likely always be yours first.

Where exactly did this go down?

Glad that worked out in your favor and glad to see that the cops showed up in time. Even with your G26, 4 bad guys with guns in hand would be a losing proposition I think unless they took off when you started shooting.
The only mistake you made was stopping and getting out of the car in a part of town that you already admitted was unsafe. In the unlikely event it happens again, stay in the car and call the cops. Keep driving if you have to.

    Scary stuff.

Four Armed bad guys or not if I was armed I would probably have to get in a gunfight vs. being walked to a back alley. Sounds about like getting forced into a car for a drive with the bad guys.

    Glad it worked out.

Glad your ok. I believe in this situation drawing a firearm could have gotten you killed. If four people jump out with guns you may actually want to give them what they want. Yes its good to have a firearm with you but if your out numbered and outgunned you may just wanna play it cool. If you hypothetically drew a gun, chances are near 100% a shooting would have taken place. Most people just want the goods and be gone without adding a murder charge. Every scenario is astronomically different. I know this sounds strange but I think it was to your benefit that you were not armed. sometimes you just up the ante by drawing a firearm. That being said, be ready next time and play it safe brother!

it was somwhere near the centennial airport in SE Denver. Not too sure though. The cops took a verbal report and then were kind enough to escort us to Rocky Vista University.

Glad everything worked out ok. I am sorry you had to experience the Denver welcome committee. Next time you come to Colorado bring your CCW and stay out of Denver. More and more thugs running the streets. Here in Northern Colorado things are better.

    That's a good area!

Were the coppers wearing dark blue with no patches or ugly french blue uniforms.

The light blue guys are Deputies with the Arapahoe County Sheriff. Dark blue are Denver PD.

Anyhow, glad you made it out! This is a weird place sometimes. I chased a guy running around in boxers down the street last night.

Not trying to be a monday morning quarterback. You made it out alive and thats #1. If you were armed its interesting to think about a proper way to respond.

If I chose to engage I would have gotten low in front of my car and fired down the side of my car and got some lead into the first two. once they are tripped up a tad switch to the other side and shoot till slide lock. With a mag down range reload in the safety of the middle of the front of the car and check the side first engaged.

A big consideration is my passenger catching their stray lead. I would prefer her to be armed to take one side while I take the other.

Not saying this would work, its still 4 to one. In my mind, compliance means 4 times more likely death because there are 4 jack-offs with itchy trigger fingers and something to prove

Only problem is, until those cops showed up, they could have been taken to an alley for a raping and murdering.

    He's got to protect her.

And it may have meant a shootout to the death.

Personally, I have my mind made up that I'm not going to any alley at gunpoint. Nor am I letting my wife go.

Hauling butt in the car in the opposite direction would have been the best choice (along with calling the cops).

 OMG You and the GF are so lucky to be alive! Even if you were armed, what chance would you have against multiple armed attackers? A shoot out would have no ended well for anyone. This is a nightmare scenario for sure.

I don't agree with this AT ALL. It's hard to say what might've happened given different circumstances, but I know for me, cooperating with 4 armed men and walking down an alley does not sound like a good idea. Kinda like getting in a car with an armed BG, you have no control over the situation and you know nothing good will result.

If he had been armed and had chosen to draw and fire, there is no guarantee that a gunfight would have resulted. I think most criminals are not ready for armed resistance and would prefer a softer target. If they started walking towards his car and met with gunfire, they likely would have decided to turn tail and escape.

    Just my two cents.

The BGs probably would have been vaporized instantly upon seeing his holstered weapon.

I am now in the habit of keeping my glock 17 in my car within a few seconds grasp and also having my 26 on me all the time with a spare clip.

I know the best thing to do was to keep driving and all, but at the time with the adrenaline of a near miss (near enough to make me think there was an impact) and my fiance screaming at me, my head was in a fog. Truly my fault there.

If something similar were to happen again, I'd probably be able to pop two of them (down the drivers side) before guns were drawn by them (i am a very decent quick aim with my 17, improving my 26 daily). I was taught by my dad to double tap and can pretty consistently land two bullets in a cloverleaf pattern with a double-tap.
Next, I would fall back behind the cover of my car and spot the actions of the other two and act accordingly. Either way, i am not going to the ally.

My biggest worry with such is my fiance still being in the car and at risk for stray bullets, but with two down my guess is the others might retreat and shoot off random fire.
