There is an HR concept that says people are promoted to the level of their incompetence. It has always amazed me what that really means in LE.:faint:

Ah, the Peter Principle. Gotta love when it's applied to something like LE, medical or the military.

Had a Lt. tell me once, that if you're good at what you do you will stay where you are at.

Maybe in this case they're promoted to a level of silence?

There is probably more truth to this than what you think.

That has been my experience watching people work their way up the ladder at places I've worked. The people who are good at the job are irreplaceable so instead the promotion goes to whoever is useless at their role but the boss enjoys socializing with.

I would be shocked if they weren't promoted.

The level of incestuous fraternity among ASAC/SAC/RSA and higher is infamous. Keep the faith, deny anything, and you are as Golden as possible.

Little more than political lackeys with a badge.

Very true. Good hacks stay put unless they just have to transfer for other reasons other than promotion. Some are good hacks before they are LT's and so on who were able to qualify for the jobs as well. I think it is a mixture where I am at.
