    Need some advice here,

    I have a nokia 6555 cell phone. It's crap.

**EDIT, turned a bit into a rant.. so i'm putting the real question up top**:

Can I just buy some used cell phone of craigslist/ebay, and switch my number/service to it? Does it have to be a certain brand/model etc?

I have had mine replaced 2 times in the year or so i've owned it. each time the phone gradually gets worse and gives me the same trouble.

Iv'e explained the problems to "customer service" too many times to explain here(and waste your time). The phone is just completely retarded. It poops out on me all the time.

I didn't feel like dealing with customer service so i just dealt with the dumb phone, now its getting unbearable. Needs to be re-stared multiple times a day to function. I finally called them, only to find I was 10 days past the warranty! (the other time I lucked out and called the day before the 90day warranty was over!) :steamed: I know there are un-honest people, but they have a record of my phone doing the same stuff from before, and this one has been acting up for ages!

I asked to speak with a manager, and instead she figured she would for me. Turned out the manager would make an exception just for me, and decided to let me upgrade my phone 3 months before I was due for one!!!

How nice! :wavey: but, I will have to sign for ANOTHER 2 YEAR CONTRACT!

I asked her why I would honestly want to sign for another 2 years, if i have been having trouble with them non-stop?, and that I would be moving to another carrier.(which is a lie for now.. i'm on my parents plan..:whistling:)

Just pop the SIM card out (probably under your battery) and stick it in any other AT&T phone and you will be good to go. The SIM card has all of your info on it.

Any phone previously used with AT&T, or any unlocked GSM phone will work. You can't use a CDMA phone. (anything verizon.)

Go to Wallyworld or anywhere else that sells AT&T go-phones for $30-$50. Swap your sim card over.

    Oh.. that was pain free.
I thought it would be more involved.. is there any setup, or do i need to call at&t to start using the new phone after i switch the sim card?

(oh, and anyone know if at&t charges to hide your number using "*67" ? I need to prank call my roommate... )

all you gotta do is switch your sim card thats it. Att doesnt have to be notified of anything. if you had your contacts saved on your sim card it will even save your contacts on it and switch it over to the "new" phone

That is very generous of you!

Look like it would suit my needs just fine,

Could I at least offer you market value for it?

Nah you don't have to, just covering the shipping is fine. I was going to throw it out anyway. PM me your address and I'll send it out tomorrow.

That's what I did when I busted my screen....

I like my Razor but AT&T doesn't stock them out here...... I went to Wally-World and bought a Razor from the "Go Phone" section.....popped the Sim Card in it....and it works like a champ......

I have five females in the family, and the lesson I get from them is that all cellphones are crap ! There has been a constant drizzle of phones don't work, hinge breaks, LCD screen goes out, makes calls itself.... all makers...

    I conclude it's deliberate.

Me ? I use a coal-fired, steam powered Motorola from the dawn of (cellular) time. All it does is make calls, but it works great !
