I have been hearing about gun bills banning assault rifles and capacity magazines. Do you think it will actually happen? Or just creating panic buying?

Honestly, I don’t think it’s very likely at this time. Red states are already posturing against it. Eight million plus new gun owners. The dem’s house and senate majorities are slim, and I’m sure they remember what happened with Clinton’s gun ban. They saw what happened after the new laws were enacted in VA, CT, and elsewhere and they are aware that there will be massive non-compliance with any new nonsense they enact.

It's fairly likely to happen sooner rather than later. A couple reasons why...

The Dems aren't afraid of elections anymore. They've just shown that they can cheat and get away with it, so I don't think many Dem politicians are worried about pissing off their constituents. They can do whatever they want without consequences.

Also, the Dems are still very bitter and angry about Trump. He drove them absolutely out of their minds for four years, and they're going to want some payback. Gun control is an easy way to punish those who put Trump in office.

I like to think they will not try with such a slim lead. I think if they do pass the ban, they will lose Senate and house. Well that is what I like to believe, but I hope that happens without the ban.

I don't expect that a ban will pass the senate, maybe not even the house.. First they would have to eliminate the filibuster. Without it ten republicans would have to be persuaded to vote in favor. Even without the filibuster just one democrat in a red or purple district would see a vote in favor as a sure threat to his/her re-election.

Now a universal background check, useless as it will be, is a possibility.

There is nothing to suggest they will be timid or bashful.

If the ban is not soon, then later. As others said, Dems now have the formula down for swaying elections. And the courts can't/won't stop them. Add to that giving citizenship to millions more illegals. I think the next mid-term election will be very telling.

Finally, consider that that an ever decreasing percentage of young folks that could care less about 2A and an increasing percentage that support socialism.

But if we push on, keep pressure on our reps, keep the legal and lobbying groups that are on our side well-supported, we will be all right.

Agree. I expect that type of legislation to have good odds of succeeding on the next mass tragedy. This includes mandatory waiting limits, FFL only sales, universal background checks. Up the ladder from there are magazine capacity limits, ammo taxes, removal of litigation protection for manufacturers, etc. The holy grail are outright bans of entire classes of guns such as we know Beta O'Rourke wants.
